A Pichwai Wedding: Where Art Meets Tradition

Indian weddings are known for their grand nature and exuberance. While lavish decorations and extravagant celebrations are common, Indian weddings are all about upholding culture and tradition. At Mewaz, we feel passionately about giving our to-be-weds their dream wedding experience, one that would be unforgettable. Whether our happy couples desire a simple and quaint wedding or one full of traditions, culture and opulence, we don’t hold back in providing them with the best experience.

The Story of the Pichwai Wedding

Each happy couple that comes to us brings in their own traditions, cultures and hopes. For each couple, Mewaz embraces the opportunity to rise up to the challenge and create a memorable experience. We recall one such request that was made by the couple, Kunal and Abhilasha. While all wedding hampers and invites made by Mewaz are unique to the couple, this one was truly exceptional. Creating an invite hamper for a Pichwai-themed wedding would not only celebrate the love of the to-be-weds but also pay homage to their cultural heritage.
Pichwai, a traditional Indian art form originating from Rajasthan, is characterised by its intricate depictions of Hindu deities, particularly Krishna. The name ‘Pichwai’ translates to 'tail’ or ‘fringe,’ referring to the decorative border that often adorns these paintings. These paintings involve vibrant colours, depiction of flora, fauna, and celestial bodies and symbolic imagery. A Pichwai-themed wedding is a unique and culturally rich way to celebrate a couple's love and devotion.

Their Vision, Our Mission

The team at Mewaz was inspired by the couple’s passion for their cultural heritage and was committed to providing them with a bespoke mithai experience that would complement the Pichwai theme. To craft a collection of sweets that would reflect the vibrant colours, intricate designs, and spiritual symbolism of Pichwai art, the Mewaz team began researching its rich history. Based on the various motifs and themes depicted in the art form, such as Krishna's divine pastimes and the lush landscapes of Vrindavan, the design of the hamper box was created. The design almost resembled a door, with ornate knockers that would open and welcome the guests to rejoice in the love of the to-be-weds.

Our Elegant Invite Hampers

The invite hampers were created in two variations, one was a larger one with intricate detailing while the other was a more compact design as requested by the happy couple. The design involved floral motifs and colours that resembled the love that the couple felt for each other. The hampers consist of laser cut and printed art featuring lifelike figures of women dressed in traditional clothing with religiously revered cows by their side. All of the items in the hampers were imprinted with the couples’ names, both in the form of logos and lettering. Kunal and Abhilasha adored their culmination of love being represented in the form of Pichwai artwork. As you open the doors of this invite hamper, you witness a pure white invite with the couple’s name etched onto it along with two containers with Pichwai art motifs on their lids. These containers are filled with sugar-free mithai and paan badam for a truly indulgent and thoughtful wedding favour.

The Compact Version of Invite Hampers

The compact version of the Pichwai-themed wedding invite hampers didn’t lack in their opulence and intricate detailing. With the same colour schemes continued and Pichwai art adorning the hampers, they were curated to reflect the couple’s love for art and each other. This hamper consisted of 16 pieces of delightfully made dryfruit, fusion mithai that was meant to be an amalgamation of the richness of tradition and the modern passion. With mithai like Gulab Rocher, Mango Munch and Hazelnut Crunch, the invite hamper offers a delightful assortment of flavours and textures. Whether you prefer sweet, tangy, or nutty treats, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Along with the delightful mithai, the invite hamper also consisted of a heartfelt message by Abhilasha’s parents requesting guests to attend the wedding and give their blessings to the happy couple. A romantic picture of the precious moments right before Kunal proposed to Abhilasha was attached to the leaflet. This personal touch adds a touch of sentimentality to the invitation and helps guests connect with the couple's love story.
